Nord Iron Mines Inc. ("Nord") is a privately held Canadian Iron Ore exploration and development company with an extensive portfolio of highly prospective iron ore projects situated in the prolific Labrador Trough of northern Quebec, a world-class iron ore district.
Nord's four 100% owned iron properties cover over 51,800 acres and include the; Girard Lake, Moore-Ross, Bergeron lake and Wilson Lake claims. These iron properties are in close proximity to several major iron projects in the Labrador Trough.
Recent 2011 drilling on Nord's Girard Lake property intersected (35.77% Fe over 243.00 metres). 2011 drilling on Nord's Moore-Ross property intersected an average of (32.54% Fe over 167.10 metres). Historical drilling on the Moore-Ross property is highlighted by a significant drill hole grading (42.9% Fe over 197 feet), including over 100 additional drill holes with iron grades ranging from 17.25% to 44.8%.
Large iron formations have been identified through substantial historic drilling, some areas visually exceeding over 1000 feet of thickness above surface with low concentrations of impurities such as: Phosphorus, Sulphur and Manganese. The geology is similar to that of many of the historic and currently producing iron mines throughout the Labrador Trough. A detailed work program is being designed to corroborate the historical drilling results, determine additional drill targets and establish an NI43-101 resource estimate.
